When we desire to reduce the appointment time, the consequences may be more severe on long term than what was saved in time. It may have a major impact when the allocated time for the appointment has been reduced.
Direct consequences to work:
- Unnecessary stress to the hygienist
- Possible reduced performance from the hygienist
- Less explanations to the patient: risk of diminish the acceptation of treatment plans
- The patient feels rushed
- The perception of the patient may be biased towards the quality of the services received
- The risk of staff changing may be higher, the cause being an increase of stress
- The risk of cancellations may increase
I strongly advise you to take the required time to take care of the patient, it’s a win-win situation for everyone!
